My Experience at Mariner Rose
Having lived in Europe for so long, I’ve deeply craved an escape that’s away from the frenzied flocks of tourists. Sure, I love Barcelona. But the non-stop crowds and constant roar sometimes can leave me feeling overwhelmed, especially during the high season.
So, when the time came to plan a trip to Tasmania, I couldn’t wait to sit back, relax and unwind. If there was one thing for sure, it was that I wanted to seek out a variety of experiences - from popular hotels and resorts to local stays and bed and breakfasts.
I always find that’s the best way to gain a more authentic perspective on local life. And for me, that’s a must. So, I dove deep into the research process. I was intent on compiling a piece on the top places to stay in Tasmania.
When I stumbled upon Mariner Rose Stanley, I was immediately taken aback. The colourful roses, elegant decor and chandelier-strung ceilings really stood out. Plus, the bright blue walls seemed to tie it all together.
Perfect, I thought. So I reached out and we organised a stay for a couple of days.
After a long two-and-a-half-hour drive from Clarence Point, we arrived in picture-perfect Stanley. Amanda greeted us with a warm smile and welcomed us through the door.
She was kind enough to offer helpful hints and tips for the area, like reserving a table at the restaurants and visiting local spots.
As I walked through the hallway, wafts of vanilla and freshly picked roses from the garden filled the air. Could it get any better?
Inside the room, the light shone down from the curtain-draped windows. The vibrant roses and dangling chandelier illuminated the entire space. The room was warm, inviting and the perfect size for a two-night stay.
I sat on the sumptuous bedding, appreciating the fluffy pillows and gorgeous linen. I peered around the room, noticing all the details. From the fireplace and blankets to the picnic baskets, every item was intentional and seemed to complement the entire space. My cup of tea!
As I stepped into the bathroom, I locked eyes with Milie Organics, a local Tasmanian brand that’s made with organic ingredients. I couldn’t wait to get inside that stylish modern bathroom and freshen up.
I spent the next few days reading by the window, enjoying the morning sun on the balcony and smelling as many roses as I could see. Seriously, this place smelt incredible.
One of the biggest highlights here was the High Tea experience. We indulged in an incredible selection of savoury and sweet treats, paired perfectly with a glass of champagne. It took us over two hours to get through the scrumptious series of snacks and by the time we left, I felt like I was going to explode. With pure contentment, that is.
The flavours just melted in my mouth, and I found it extremely hard to leave anything there. The berry coulis pannacotta and lemon merengue tart were absolutely divine. It’s safe to say I overindulged at that High Tea, but I certainly have no regrets…
Mariner Rose Stanley felt like the perfect home away from home. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Tasmania, this humble abode deserves a spot on your bucket list. And don’t forget to book the High Tea, too!
